Freetown and Beyond

Here is a short excerpt from ‘Freetown and Beyond’. It is a short film about the band Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars included as a Special Feature on the documentary DVD. It shows the band’s first trip to the U.S. and performance at the SXSW music and film festival.

Mohamed Bangura

This video was recorded in a West African refugee camp. Music does not get more roots than this. Though the rest of his bandmates returned back to Sierra Leone, Mohamed is still too traumatized to return to his homeland and remains in a refugee camp to this day.
